Despite the loss of a number of key players since last season, the ladies had a strong performance in the first Wiltshire league matches of the season. In the first match against Wootton Bassett both teams were missing players but our ladies got off to a good start but just failed to hold on to the first set before leading in the second set when the allotted time tab out. In their second match the ladies overwhelm Devizes B. Against Salisbury the ladies were leading 17-10 but Karen York managed to serve Salisbury to victory. Unfortunately our street Chessie was injured in the second set and Salisbury took full advantage. Despite the continued absence of Chessie battled back will after going down in the first set against Devizes A and less for a long time in the second set before succumbing in the end.
Chessie was taken to hospital but the shoulder injury is not serious and she should be playing again soon.
The players were Anji, Chessie, Harriet, Mel, Jack and Dan.
