IT firm provides grant for coach education

Major IT firm CGI has provided the Calne Comets with a grant from its UK charity committee to help with the costs of our coaches getting qualifications. In particular our Junior Development Officer, Neil Bentley, has obtained his Level 1 Award in Coaching Volleyball.

Our junior members show their appreciation for the donation from CGI which has helped our Junior Development Officer, Neil Bentley (second from left), receive his level 1 award.

The club and in particular the juniors want to thank CGI and their staff for the donation.

Mini-volleyball Grand-Prix

The U14 boys had some tough matches particularly given that only one of our boys is in the age category but they had some good matches and it was a shame that the match against St Peters U15 boys had to finish early as our was developing into a great match.

Our only other team was the Milky Ways a.k.a. Harriet Squared in the U13 girls competition. The two Harriets won all six of their matches and therefore the competition.

Information for juniors about start of season

Training starts on Friday 5 September as usual at 7PM in the leisure centre. There will be training every Friday until 19 December except on 24 and 31 October.

Unfortunately Andrew had resigned as junior development officer. A variety of people will be running the training sessions until we find a permanent replacement starting with Cliff and myself on Friday.

For those juniors old enough to take part, the start-of-season tournament is on 14 September in Melksham. Please let Neil know if you want to play.

The first SWVA grand-prix is on 4 October in Bournemouth. Later dates can be found on the SWVA website.

There is now a page with a list of dates.

More details of what is happening will be post here when available.
