Meteorites defeat Asteroids in first league match of new season.
A Cosmos team of Cliff, Neil, Jenny, Anji, Matt Walker, Ben and Harriet lost in the final of the pre- season tournament to Olympiad.
Training starts on Friday 5 September as usual at 7PM in the leisure centre. There will be training every Friday until 19 December except on 24 and 31 October.
Unfortunately Andrew had resigned as junior development officer. A variety of people will be running the training sessions until we find a permanent replacement starting with Cliff and myself on Friday.
For those juniors old enough to take part, the start-of-season tournament is on 14 September in Melksham. Please let Neil know if you want to play.
The first SWVA grand-prix is on 4 October in Bournemouth. Later dates can be found on the SWVA website.

The 2014-15 season is almost upon us. We start training at the leisure centre again on Friday 5 September.
The WVA has yet to publish the fixtures for the season. However the start-of-season tournament will be on 14 September in Melksham.
There is also a referee course on 28 September at Lavington School; if you are interested in attending then you need to book on the Volleyball England website but let one of the committee know as some funds are available to help pay for the course.

We have entered a mixed team into the Salisbury tournament this weekend.
The team is Neil, Chessie, Harriet, Kelly, Anji and Chris.
The Asteroids lost before their matches at Erlestoke prison in a vey hot sports hall. The team of Richard, Andrew, Neil, Chloe, Anji and (playing only her second match of the season) Mel played well although still lack an aggressive edge. The score in the first match was 25-13 25-19 25-12 with Andrew the MVP while the second match ended 11-25 17-25 22-25 with Anji the MVP.
Calne Comets lost against Devizes 6X in a close final. The Comets welcomed back Andy Smith from injury, although he was only fit enough to play as libero meaning Neil Bentley continued playing in the middle. The team had their chances particularly in the second set but lost 17-25 25-27 23-25. The team was Matt, Andy, Cliff, Tom, Steve, Neil, Andrew, Chloe and Anji.
The Comets reached the final of the Dave Kinder Knockout Cup for the first time when they beat Trowbridge 20-25 28-30 25-18 22-25 in a closely contested semi-final at the Olympiad. The Comets squad was Matt, Steve, Richard, Serena, Chloe, Anji, Neil, Cliff, Andrew and Rad.
Asteroids had a squad of nine for their match against Salisbury Warlocks. The squad was Chloe, Jack, Anji, Neil, Serena, Matthew, Richard, Andrew and Chessie. After narrowly losing the first set to 22, the Asteroids won the second convincingly to 18 before closing out the match by winning the final set to 23. MVP was Andrew.
