Meteorites end Barrels’ unbeaten run

The Meteorites recovered from losing the first set to beat Devizes Barrels 19-25 25-17 25-14. Going into the match the Barrels had been unbeaten in the Mixed League this season. Dan Smart was the MVP. The other players were Helen, Stuart, Neil, Lida and Jon.

Asteroids outscore Olympiad but still lose

The Asteroids had an exiting match against Olympiad B on Monday evening. Richard, Serena, Jack, Anji, Andrew and Neil saved set points in the first set then had a set point themselves before losing the set 30-28. Olympiad changed their line-up for the second set and initially it reaped dividends as they took a commanding 16-6 lead but the Asteroids almost recovered and lost the set 25-21. Helped by a run of seven consecutive points on Neil’s serve, Asteroids dominated the third set to win 25-10. Over the entire match the Asteroids outscored Olympiad 74-65.

Comets lose to Aces

The Comets started well against Wootton Bassett Aces winning the first set 25-11 but could not maintain the advantage as Cliff, Matt, Tom, James, Lida, Steve and Stuart narrowly lost the second set 23-25 before crumbling 11-25 in the final set. Stuart was the MVP.

Ladies and Juniors league

A young team of Anji, Chloe, Matt, Chessie, Dan, Jack and Kelly were in action today in the ladies and juniors league. Their opponents were Salisbury, Devizes and Wootton Bassett. The team struggled to get going against Salisbury, played better against Devizes and finally won a set against Wootton Bassett.

Cosmos out of Dave Kinder cup

Cosmos were defeated 16-25 13-25 13-25 by Wootton Bassett Aces this evening at the leisure centre. The Cosmos team of Helen, Stuart, Chris, Thomas, Dan and Jon put up a determined fight and when they were able to receive well then they were able to keep up with the Aces.
